Taxi drivers in the provinces are dismayed over the announcement of a P10 provisional rollback on the flag-down rates of cabs nationwide.

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairman Winston Ginez said starting Monday, March 9, the flag-down rate of cabs will be down to P30 from P40.

The provisional rollback also include airport taxis.

Ginez, however, clarified that the there will be no calibrations for taxi meters, meaning P40 would still appear on a meter but the passengers would pay P10 less in their actual fare.

The agency said taxi drivers who will violate the rollback will be apprehended.
