MANILA - The MMDA honors a traffic enforcer whose photos have gone viral on social media.

In the pictures, Fernando Gonzales is seen selling rice cakes to motorists along EDSA.

Although some criticized him for selling the snacks during work hours, others praised him for his honest way of augmenting his income instead of resorting to extortion.

Gonzales earns 15,000 pesos a month, which he says is not enough to put his children through school.

He added that he purposely avoids situations where he is tempted to use his position to extort money from motorists.
