MANILA, Philippines - Members of the Bureau of Fire Protection used firehoses to give a "water salute" to the convoy carrying the remains of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo to Malacanang Palace.

The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group also used their blaring sirens or "wang-wang" to mark the passing of the cortege at Luneta Park.

Robredo, 54, served as mayor of Naga City before being appointed to the Department of the Interior and Local Government in 2010. He died last Saturday after the plane he was riding crashed in the sea off Masbate.

Robredo’s remains are scheduled to lie in state at the Palace's Kalayaan Hall from Friday until Sunday morning when his body will be brought back to Naga.
