DAVAO - Presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte on Monday reiterated he wants to impose a ban on drinking of alcoholic beverages in public places.

In a press briefing, Duterte said Filipinos should drink alcoholic beverages indoors and not on the streets.

"No drinking in all public places and even alleys. Tuwing pupunta ako ng Tondo, nakakakita ako sa...do not do that. If you do not have a house, then do not drink," he said.

He added that the police must arrest all violators of a public drinking ban.

Duterte has made a name for himself for his iron-fist governance in Davao City, employing unorthodox ways in instilling discipline among his constituents and going after criminals.

Much of Duterte's campaign team has been centered on crushing criminality and fighting corruption.
