MANILA - An Ateneo Law professor and Catholic layman believes Pope Francis does not want "negatrons" or people who thrive on negativity but never do anything to help their fellow man.

Speaking to radio DZMM, MTRCB Chairman Eugenio "Toto" Villareal said the Pope has already spoken out in support of the family and urged Catholic leaders to resist powerful forces that are tempting youth with "confusing" versions of sexuality, marriage and the family.

Villareal, who instructs students on the social teaching of the Church, said there is a need to establish solidarity in the Philippines so that each Filipino would help one another.

"Ang approach ng Santo Papa sana walang negatron. Alam na natin may problema, siguro i-suspend muna yung judgmental, panghuhusga at tignan natin paano natin matutulungan ang ating kapwa," he told radio DZMM.

"If the family is strengthened, the common good is also strengthened," he added.
