MANILA, Philippines -- The National Youth Commission (NYC) is counting on the reproductive health (RH) law to stop the rise in teenage pregnancies.

NYC President Percival Cendaña blames teen pregnancies on what he says is the lack of a comprehensive sex education in schools.

Cendaña is convinced this problem will be addressed once the RH law is implemented.

Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), however, doubts the RH law will solve the problem of teen pregnancies.
