MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections on Friday said it expects to finish hardware testing of over 80,000 precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines by the middle of July.

Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said the poll body has already finished testing 40,000 machines and will be testing the other 40,000 in the next couple of weeks.

He said the tests are meant to check if the PCOS machines are still in running condition and are well maintained.

The poll chief said enhancements in the PCOS software have not been incorporated. He said the enhancements will be presented before an oversight congressional committee.

He also said some election services in the 2013 polls will be unbundled and bidded out.
