MANILA, Philippines -- The government is confident it can sign a final peace deal with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front even before President Aquino's term ends in 2016.

Chief negotiator Miriam Ferrer said the formal peace talks will resume next month in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Ferrer has already turned over to her MILF counterpart, Mohagher Iqbal, the government's proposal on the wealth sharing annex so the MILF can study it.

The MILF had complained about the delay in the negotiations but said the resumption of the talks next month will help iron out the kinks in the peace process. ANC Headlines, June 22, 2013
