Presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday slammed pervasive red tape in the government and set a 72-hour deadline for the completion of all government transactions.

In his turf in Davao City, Duterte said clearances, electrical connections, business permits, and all other documents are released within three days of application.

Government offices that fail to meet this deadline, he said, are summoned to his office to explain the delay.

He said he plans to implement this system when he assumes office.

Duterte also pointed out that all government offices have computers that could speed up the release of documents.

"Akala ko ba bayad tayo sa tao? Where are the computers that will make it fast? We've been acquiring computers to make our work easier, and here comes the delay, for nothing. Ayaw niyo lang magtrabaho," he said.

He also warned officials propagating red tape. "If you are not willing to do it, let me know. Maraming Pilipino d'yan sa labas, naghahanap ng trabaho."
