Former intelligence officer Cesar Mancao has apologized for implicating former Senator Panfilo Lacson and former President Joseph Estrada in the Dacer-Corbito murder case.

Speaking to ANC on Saturday morning, Mancao said people were only dictating his actions and forced him to sign an affidavit which he stood by in courts.

"I'm very sorry to have implicated all the names, the people that ought not to be included in the charge, especially Senator Lacson. In the case of former President Erap, in the first place he was not entered in the charge, but I still feel that I disrespected him for mentioning his name," he said.

Mancao, who escaped from the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in 2013, also expressed his intent to surrender to authorities. He said he was enlightened by the papal visit last month.

He also issued an apology to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima for the manhunt and resources used to locate him.

"I hope she will forgive me and pave the way for whatever way that will straighten out this problem that I have. In the first place, I'm not really involved in the Dacer-Corbito (murder case)... I don't have personal knowledge in the first place of the murder," he said.
