Coco, Megan, Nora honored as 'People of the Year'

MANILA -- Miss World 2013 Megan Young was honored as one of the "People of the Year" by People Asia magazine on Tuesday night.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Young said this is a great start to 2014, which will see her continuing her foreign travels as part of her Miss World duties. Among the countries she will visit this year are Indonesia, Colombia and Haiti. She also plans to learn a new language this year.

Actor Coco Martin, for his part, said he is honored to be in the company of many respected personalities who are more deserving of the award.

Also honored were: ABS-CBN Channel head Cory Vidanes, veteran actress Nora Aunor, Shell country chairman Edgar Chua, RCBC chairperson Helen Yuchengco Dee, Sorsogan bishop Fr. Gerard Deveza, dentist Dr. Steve Mark Gan, veteran singer Kuh Ledesma, fashion designer Criselda Lontok, film director Brillante Mendoza, hotelier Tom Meyer, Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla and basketball coach Chot Reyes.

The lifetime achievement award was given to Socorro Ramos, founder of National Bookstore.
