In ANC's Beyond Politics, former President Fidel V. Ramos assessed President Rodrigo Duterte's first 100 days in office.

The Duterte administration seems to have a lack of long-term strategic vision, he said.

Ramos said the focus should not just be on the war on drugs and fighting crime.

He said, if this were the only problems of the Philippines, then one would already see more happy people on the streets given that the crime rate has gone down.

But, he noted that there is still a "pervading ambiance of uncertainty" and "unhappiness in the sense that not much has improved."

Ramos stressed the need to fight the main problem of the country which is poverty, which he said is the basic cause of insurgency and other concerns such as warlordism.

He said the government should not just target accomplishments within six years, but envision a bright future for the current generation's children and grandchildren. -- Beyond Politics, ANC, October 11, 2016
