Anaida Rascal never thought she would hear from her brother Jalal again. Jalal is among the dozens of hostages still trapped inside the main battle area in Marawi.

A few days ago, the siblings were able to talk after Jalal was able to use a mobile phone to contact her. But after the short phone call, Anaida could no longer contact her brother again.

She said her brother was tasked to look after the wounded Maute members, just like rescued hostage Lordvin Acopio.

Acopio, a teacher at the Dansalan College, was rescued in a military operation along with Father Chito Soganub last week.

"Sana matulungan ang kapatid ko na makalabas ng buhay, gaya ng ginawa nila kay Fr. Chito...Namatay ang tatay ko doon. Maawa po kayo," she told ABS-CBN News.

The fighting in the Islamic city of Marawi has been raging for more than 4 months and officials said the end is in sight, but as the conflict seems to be spreading to different forces in the province, state forces said they need to finish the crisis sooner than later.
