Former Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo and state television PTV on Tuesday gave conflicting answers on who made the decision to place P60 million worth of tourism ads on a show hosted by Teo's brothers.

The Senate investigated the transaction after it was flagged by state auditors for alleged lack of contract and possible conflict of interest.

During a Senate hearing, PTV president Dino Apolonio said the initial draft of the deal came from the Department of Tourism, stating that the ads should be placed on "Kilos Pronto," a blocktimer hosted by Teo's brothers, Ben and Erwin Tulfo.

Teo denied this, saying PTV "made the proposal and in the proposal, there was already Kilos Pronto."

The former tourism chief added that she was unaware her brothers hosted Kilos Pronto.

"Have I known it, I would not have signed the contract," she said.

She also said she did not know that her brothers had a show on the government-run station

For his part, Sen. Richard Gordon questioned why the department would place P60 million in ads on "Kilos Pronto" when it was not even the number 1 show on PTV.
