The recent North Korea missile launch was high on the menu over dinner between US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

It's a thorn on Trump's side, one that's triggering talk of a tactical response.

ANC's resident analyst Richard Heydarian said another important story in relation to the North Korean missile test, which he said is "not yet a nightmare situation," was Trump's response.

"With North Korea, the response of Mr. Trump, for someone who's very talkative and talks tough, was extremely measured. He essentially just said 'We're gonna stand strong with Japan, 100%," he added.

"I think, first of all, they're scrambling to come up with really reasonable responses. During the campaign period, you can have a WWE entertainment show and put up a tough face... You can pull that off during the campaign period, but now, these are hard choices. What do you really do in response?" he added.
