5 pairs of twins wow with 'mirror dance' on 'PGT'
Five pairs of twins on Saturday were given a standing ovation by the judges of "Pilipinas Got Talent" (PGT), after showcasing a dance routine that highlighted the illusion of reflections.
The audience members at PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque City were also on their feet after the number of the dance group Symmetry, which was among the six quarterfinalist acts that performed during Saturday's live telecast.
"You definitely make Davao very proud. Kasi minsan nakakatakot ang isang novelty act, when the novelty wears off, baka wala nang ibubuga," judge Kris Aquino told the group after their performance.
"Pero you have all the elements that can make you guys stars -- you're attractive, you're charming, and you're very talented. Kaya kahit even without the mirror, tatagal talaga kayo," she said.
Judge Freddie Garcia, meanwhile, praised the synchronized movements of each member, which contributed to the illusion of dancing in front of mirrors.
"Napakahirap ng ginagaw niyo. It's so difficult. Just to move alone, to dance in synch is already difficult to do. What more, to have exactly the same movements? At nakatalikod ah. Mahirap gawin 'yun," he said.
He added: "I'm sure you rehearsed many hours just to perfect your act, at bilib na bilib ako sa inyo."
Aside from Symmetry, five other "PGT" quarterfinalists performed on Saturday -- the tandem of Tahanang Walang Hagdan Wheelchair Dancesport and BMG Dancers, dog tricks master Florendo Macalma, acoustic band MP3, singer Randy de Silva, and magician Michael Fernando.
Voting will determine the top three acts among the second of live performers, which will have the chance to take two slots in the semifinals. -- Pilipinas Got Talent, April 20, 2013, Saturday
