MANILA – The Security of Tenure Bill, which aims to protect workers’ rights by ending labor-only contracting, may result to job losses, a business group said Monday.

Some groups opposed the measure due to the ambiguities such as the definition of labor-only contracting.

“Making that a law is like shooting ourselves in the foot because no other countries do that. Especially us who needs jobs, trying to push investments and job creation and we know a lot of jobs will be lost,” Employers Confederation of the Philippines president Segio Ortiz-Luis told ANC.

ECOP chairman Edgardo Lacson earlier said President Rodrigo Duterte should veto the “anti-poor” and anti-constitutional” measure.
