MANILA – A stronger peso could help lower production costs for food processing company and Bossing hotdog producer Frabelle, its president said Wednesday.

Lower costs could even lead to price cuts if the peso continues to strengthen against the dollar, said Frabelle Fishing Corp president Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.

The peso closed at P51.365 to a dollar Tuesday, its strongest level since February last year.

“It’s good news for us, as it will make our cost lower as the peso goes stronger. The product can be more affordable in the future as we would like to share whatever cost advantage we would have from the strong peso to the consumers,” Laurel told ANC.

“We hope that more competitive price will attract more people to buy more products,” he added.

Frabelle recently joined forces with one of the largest US sausage manufacturer Johnsonville.
