MANILA - There is demand for Philippine-made chocolates and the industry has "a lot of room to grow," a European business leader said Wednesday.

In 2017, the Philippines imported $100 million dollars worth of chocolate products, but only exported $24 million, said European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines president Guenter Taus.

"The demand is certainly there... There’s a lot of room to improve and a lot of room to grow," he told ANC's Market Edge.

Europe is the biggest importer of Philippine chocolates, with Germany leading the bloc at $5 billion annually, Taus said.
