There’s a reason Catriona Gray is a familiar face even to Filipinos who did not closely follow her pageant stints in Miss World in 2016 and Miss Universe in 2018.
TV viewers, in particular, might have come across her in ads for various products — shampoo, lotion, portable Wi-Fi, and canned tuna, among others.
A compilation of those TV commercials made the rounds on social media following Gray’s Miss Universe win early this week.
Already with some 4.3 million views as of writing, many comments were notably belated realizations that they have indeed seen Gray before her beauty queen days.
“Siya pala ‘yun!” was a common reaction to the video uploaded by Richmond Tyndall.
Others noticed that in one ad, Gray portrayed a long-distance relationship with her real-life boyfriend, Clint Bondad, similarly a popular model on print and television.
With her Miss Universe triumph — a celebrated achievement especially among pageant-fanatic Filipinos — Gray will undoubtedly court bigger endorsement deals throughout and well after her reign, just like the last Miss Universe from the Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach.
