MANILA -- All dads are cool in their own odd ways. But Pinoy dad Joel Villanueva Mondina is definitely one of a kind.
Social media pages such as 9GAG, UNILAD, and others featured the hilarious gone-wrong prank by Mondina and his son, CJ.
9GAG's post has already garnered over 84,000 reactions and 4.2 million views as of writing. It has been shared over 14,000 times.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Mondina said he is thrilled with the attention that their prank has been receiving, especially since they enjoy creating funny videos.
"To be honest, halos lahat ng mga videos ko ay kusang lumalabas na lang sa isip ko, so yung mga idea ko ay natural na lumalabas at hindi ko pinag-iisipan unless someone will message me and give me an idea," Mondina said.
Mondina's videos, which mostly features hilarious pranks and jokes, are published through his Facebook page named "Father/Son Duo."
"At first, it was just for fun but then people liked and enjoyed our videos kaya ipinagpatuloy namin," he added.
Their Facebook page now has around 838,600 followers.
From Baguio boy to California dad
A native of Baguio, Mondina said he migrated to the United States in 1994 since both of his parents decided to settle there. And just like all migrants, he brought with him the concept of the "American Dream."
But to achieve that, he had to work had. "I worked as a sales representative for one of the biggest distributing company here in the US," he said.
Mondina may now have a comfortable home and cars, but he still does not see himself as a successful man. "Ito lang ang masasabi ko: I'm happy, my family is happy...can't complain," he quipped.
Mondina is also aware of his flaws-- both as a parent and a husband. He makes sure, however, that he does his best to fulfill his obligations to his family.
"I love my kids and my wife to the moon and back, at dahil sa kanila kaya laging may na iisip akong masayang videos palagi," he said.
And through his videos, he believes that he could inspire other dads to make sure they bond with their kids while they still can.
