MANILA - Political disputes, war in the south, a vaccine scare and back-to-back storms before Christmas made 2017 a tough year for Filipinos.
But it also was not short on triumphs, both big and small. We asked Facebook users what they're thankful for and the challenges that they hurdled coming into the new year.
Most Filipinos were thankful for making it through the year with their loved ones, finding new jobs and overcoming illness.
My son was blassed to have a good job with a better company. My bunso got a job and he'll start ths January.
"Nagpapasalamat ako kasi nandito ako ngayon sa Qatar for work.
There were those who took hardships as learning experiences.
Netizens also shared the goals they achieved.
"Na-promote agad sa work kahit 'di pa tapos ang contract. Basta masipag lang," Juan Gabriel Guevarra shared.
"I traveled to Hong Kong alone," Hapi San recounted.
"Nakakuha ako ng mataas na grades," said Lance Contreras.
We also asked netizens about their resolutions for 2018, most of which involved better financial management and shedding some weight.
"Healthy living should be our priority for ourselves and especially for our loved ones," said Crispina Miranda-Ram.
