These 2019 Southeast Asian Games produced scores of winners and feel-good stories that, in 10 days, ignited a unified national sporting pride rarely seen in the country.

But it wasn't just the athletes who brought home medals who are worth remembering.

Stories of perseverance known by the viral term #PusongPinoy and real-life heroism — here's looking at you, Roger Casogay — demonstrated on a lot of levels that anyone of any stature or background can achieve success.

And when they put in the work and commit themselves to a goal, that boy or girl raised on some street, ricefield, mountain or far-flung coastline can become any of the champions they saw in these Games.
