Gilas Pilipinas team leaders ahead of FIBA World Cup
It took a long, winding, sometimes bruising, road for Gilas Pilipinas to get to the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
The Philippines men’s national team survived 2 qualifying rounds, 12 games against Asia’s top sides, a coaching change, several roster movements, and even a bit of controversy to book its place in Foshan city, China.
En route to the World Cup — its second in a row after an appearance in the 2014 tournament in Spain — Gilas banked on a number of consistent performances from its players in a qualifying tournament that ran intermittently for nearly 16 months.
