Kiefer Ravena has been nothing short of phenomenal in his first two games in the PBA, and for his stellar play in the first two games he earned the nod as the season-opening player of the week.
The NLEX rookie averaged 19 points, 8.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2 steals in the Road Warriors’ victories over Kia and GlobalPort.
He bested the likes of teammate JR Quinahan, San Miguel slotman June Mar Fajardo, Ginebra's Greg Slaughter, Meralco forward KG Canaleta, and Rain or Shine's Beau Belga and Raymond Almazan for the weekly accolade.
Ravena, picked No. 2 overall in the 2017 PBA rookie draft, tallied a near triple-double in his pro debut, registering 18 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds to help NLEX down gritty Kia, 119-115, on December 20.
On Christmas Day, he carried the Road Warriors again, notching 20 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and 2 rebounds in NLEX’s 115-104 win over GlobalPort.
"I had no doubt he can make an impact and lead the team as I was hoping. That's exactly what he did. He's going to be special," said NLEX coach Yeng Guiao said of Ravena.
