MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao refused to respond to Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s recent Internet meme and instead posted a simple Christmas greeting through his official website.

“Manny Pacquiao Loves every one of you and wishes you a Very Merry Christmas! Remember this is the season to celebrate the birth of Jesus and remember his love for us. Please share that same love with everyone around you and God Bless!” said his statement.

Pacquiao, who recently celebrated his 35th birthday following his victory over Brandon Rios, spent Christmas with his family at home.

He has planned to meet Mayweather in the US late this month but since the American has made it clear he doesn’t want to fight, it is unlikely that the meeting will still push through.

Mayweather even came up with a “Christmas card” or a meme bashing Pacquiao’s efforts to arrange the fight.

The Internet meme, which showed Pacquiao desperately praying for the super fight, went viral through social media.

The Filipino boxer didn’t seem to mind as he even shared the same photo through his official Facebook page, describing it "FUNNY FLOYD."

But Pacquiao’s fans retaliated for their hero, coming up with memes of their own or forwarding photos that ridiculed Mayweather.
