No Christmas gift could've made Donnie Nietes a happier man than news of an impeding world title bout.

And not just one fight, but two.

Nietes said he welcomes the opportunity to fight for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) world flyweight championship, the one vacated by fellow Filipino John Riel Casimero.

He's also the No. 1 contender to Zou Shiming's 112-pound throne in the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

If the right schedule falls into place and kinks are ironed out, the Bacolod-born Nietes won't have to choose which belt to chase. He can compete for both.

"I am very happy when I learned that the IBF ordered me to fight the Thai boxer for the IBF world flyweight title. I will prioritize the IBF because I got the orders already even though I am the mandatory challenger of Zou Shiming’s WBO world flyweight title. It’s a big opportunity for me so I will not let this one pass," Nietes said in a report posted on the Cebu Daily News website.

"I am planning to win both IBF and WBO in this division and become a three-division world champion. I am very motivated right now to train harder. In fact, I am already training for next year’s big fights."

The chance to be the IBF flyweight king fell on Nietes' lap after Casimero chose to move up in weight. The boxing body ordered Nietes and Eaktawan Krungthepthonburi of Thailand to dispute Casimero's championship.

Nietes has long craved taking on Zou, even taunting the former Olympic gold medalist and saying the Chinese fighter feared him.

According to a Manila Bulletin report, the Nietes-Eaktawan could be held in the Philippines.
