The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) will make a final push to win the hosting rights for the 2023 FIBA World Cup when its representatives meet the FIBA Central Board in Geneva on Saturday (Manila time).

The SBP, along with counterparts from Indonesia and Japan, will make one last presentation to FIBA’s Central Board.

According to SBP President Al Panlilio, joining the delegation is Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano who will take the place of Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano who is unavailable for the trip.

“I understand that the representatives from Japan and Indonesia will also bring some government officials,” said Panlilio in the SBP’s official website.

“But we are limiting the panel to 10 people because the room will already have the 24 members of FIBA’s Central Board.”

Panililio expressed optimism about their bid since Russia and Turkey already bowed out of the race.

“We hope that all our hard work will pay off,” he said.
