MANILA, Philippines – The Ateneo de Manila University has reportedly hired national team head coach Tab Baldwin as the new head coach of the Blue Eagles.
Musong Castillo of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, and Matthew Li of Tiebreaker Times, citing unnamed sources, reported that Baldwin has accepted a one-year deal to coach the Blue Eagles.
Castillo's source said the hiring of Baldwin is "80 percent done."
Baldwin will replace Bo Perasol, who led Ateneo to two Final Four appearances in his three seasons as head coach. Perasol had indicated to Ateneo management ahead of Season 78 that he intends to leave at the end of the men's basketball tournament.

The Blue Eagles finished in third place in the UAAP Season 78 tournament, getting ousted in the Final Four by eventual champions Far Eastern University.
According to Li's report, the Ateneo coaching staff outside of Perasol will be retained.
Baldwin coached the Gilas Pilipinas national team to the silver medal in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, losing to China in the final. He is also expected to coach the national team that will compete in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July 2016.
