Coach confident of gold medal win
CLARK, Pampanga -- The Philippine Blu Girls completed a clean sweep of the eliminations by running down Thailand, 11-0, in the 30th Southeast Asian Games women’s softball competition here at The Villages.
The Blu Girls looked flawless against the visiting team en route to their fourth straight win
Coach Randy Dizer is confident they could make it straight to the finals and take the gold.
“Atin na 'to. The scores might be different but I think the women’s will have it,” said Dizer. “Confident ako with the way they’re playing now and the support we’re getting.”
The Pinays racked it up, 10-0, with 3 runs in the first inning and 7 in the third. They scored 1 more in the fourth before calling it mercy.
Dizer said the girls, composed of young players, are in high spirits, especially now they are playing at home.
Prior to beating Thailand, the Blu Girl defeated Malaysia (6-0), Singapore (8-1) and Indonesia (11-1).
The Blu Girls are gunning for their sixth gold in the SEA Games.
They will go through a knockout game on Friday before moving to the finals on Sunday.
