MANILA - The Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Wednesday said it is open to the proposal to grant civil service eligibility to Filipino medalists and their coaches in the ongoing 30th Southeast Asian Games.
The commission has relayed the proposal of House Committee on Civil Service and Professional Regulation chair Rep. Frederick Siao to CSC chair Alicia Bala, Commissioner Aileen Lizada said.
“We support the move kasi po these athletes bring international recognition and honor to our country,” Lizada said.
Lizada noted that there are special laws and CSC issuances which may apply to SEA Games medalists and their coaches “other than passing the pen and paper test.”
The coaches and athletes will also be able to train their next generation counterparts for future competitions, she said.
“Once you grant them eligibility, puwede ho sila pumasok sa mga sports offices ng mga LGUs (local government units) and PSC (Philippine Sports Commission) and they can help our future athletes,” Lizada said.
