MANILA, Philippines—Another bumper crop of rookies is expected to join the PBA next season, as applicants for the upcoming Annual Draft reached 50 players ahead of the deadline set for Friday afternoon.
Ateneo stalwarts Isaac Go, Adrian Wong, Vince Tolentino, and twins Mike and Matt Nieto are among the notable names who have made themselves available for the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft, which is set at Robinson's Place Manila on Dec. 8.
Adamson's Sean Manganti, Letran's Jerrick Balanza and Bonbon Batiller, Lyceum's Jayvee and Jaycee Marcelino, and San Sebastian's Allyn Bulanadi have also applied.
Rey Suerte, the one-and-done player from University of the East, has also applied for the draft along with Kib Montalbo of La Salle and Kent Salado of Arellano.
PBA coaches will get a glimpse of what the rookies are capable of during the two-day Draft Combine on Dec. 4 and 5 at Hoops Center in Mandaluyong.
Columbian Dyip and Blackwater own the first two picks in the draft.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether three-time Finals MVP Thirdy Ravena of Ateneo is joining this year's draft.
Aside from Manganti, Tolentino and Wong, five other overseas-based Filipino have enlisted. They are Daryl Singontiko, Roosevelt Adams, Mark Taylor, Jason Riley and Travis Thompson.
Applicants have until 5 p.m. of Saturday to withdraw.
