PBA: Erram, Varilla suspended for NLEX’s do-or-die vs. NorthPort

MANILA, Philippines — The PBA has suspended NLEX’s Paul Varilla and Poy Erram following their flagrant fouls in their quarterfinal game against NorthPort on Monday night.

Both players will thus be unavailable when the Road Warriors take on the Batang Pier in a do-or-die game on Wednesday night, with the winner advancing to the semifinals of the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Erram was also given a P50,000 fine, and Varilla, a P40,000 fine.

The two NLEX players were ejected with five minutes left in their 115-90 loss to NorthPort after a scuffle with Batang Pier import Michael Qualls. 

Qualls stepped on Varilla’s stomach while trying to break his fall, and Erram responded by throwing an elbow at the import. Varilla was tossed out as well after getting caught throwing an elbow of his own.

Meanwhile, NLEX’s Philip Paniamogan was fined P5,000 for a flagrant foul penalty 1 against NorthPort’s Christian Standhardinger. The guard was caught elbowing Standhardinger in the gut after the ejection of his teammates.

Kiefer Ravena also received a P5,000 fine for a technical foul for second motion against Standhardinger.

Standhardinger was given a P5,000 fine after a review bared that he committed a flagrant foul penalty 1 against Ravena.
