MANILA, Philippines – High school phenomenon Alyssa Valdez will be in the spotlight wearing an Ateneo uniform when the UAAP Season 74 volleyball competition kicks off on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan.

Valdez and the Lady Eagles, who have never won the UAAP title, will take on the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigresses in the featured match at 3:30 p.m.

Valdez was UST’s top high school player who carried the España-based spikers to several championships.

National University (NU) and University of the Philippines (UP) will collide in the other women’s match at 2 p.m.

The men’s contest also gets going on Saturday with Far Eastern University (FEU) taking on De La Salle University (DLSU) at 9 a.m., and Adamson University (AdU) battling NU at 10:30 a.m.

The following day, also at the Arena, De La Salle opens its women’s title defense against Adamson at 3:30 p.m.

At 2 p.m., FEU, a 29-time UAAP champion, clashes against University of the East (UE).

The men’s matches pit Ateneo against UE at 9 a.m., and UP against UST at 10:30 a.m.

All matches will be at the Arena, except for Wednesday’s (November 30) schedule that will be at the Ateneo Blue Eagle gym.
