MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad shone in the 2015 Cheerleading World Championships, winning five medals in the two-day competition held in Berlin over the weekend.
The UP Pep Squad won two bronzes – in cheerleading doubles and small groups mixed – and three silvers – in junior cheer dance doubles, cheer dance doubles, and cheer all female.
They also placed fourth in the cheer mixed, fifth and sixth in cheerleading small groups all female, sixth in the cheerleading small groups mixed, while another group placed eighth in the cheerleading doubles.
The UP Pep Squad had previously won a bronze and a silver in the seventh edition of the CWC held in Bangkok.
They went up against over 20 countries and over 1,300 participants.
Japan dominated the event, winning gold in junior cheerleading, small groups female, cheer dance doubles, and cheer all female.
The UP Pep Squad placed third in the UAAP Cheer Dance Competition last October.
