MANILA, Philippines - Filipino boxing champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao will be greeted with a hero's welcome when he returns to General Santos City and Sarangani province this Thursday.

The city is preparing a motorcade, where Pacquiao will ride a float bearing a giant title belt.

From the General Santos City airport, Pacquiao will make his way to the boundary between the city and Sarangani, where he will be greeted by a 'fyu kura' or a parade of horses. The fyu is a traditional celebration in Sarangani province.

Pacquiao will then ride a horse on his way to the Sarangani provincial capitol, where he will open the province's Munato festival.

Pacquiao arrived in Manila last Monday, a week after retaining his WBO welterweight championship against Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez. -- Report from Anne Santos, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN
