A statue of Samboy Lim was unveiled in Karuhatan, Valenzuela this week, recognizing the career of the PBA legend who has been bedridden since waking from a coma he suffered back in 2014.

The statue shows Lim, whose monster leaps earned him the nickname "The Skywalker," in a familiar pose of dunking over his opponents.

The basketball star is officially considered as one of the league's 25 top players of all time, an All-Star game MVP, a grand slam winner, and the first-ever recipient of PBA Sportsmanship Award.

He is fondly remembered for his legendary 34-point explosion against the Italian team Banco Di Roma in the 1985 World Basketball Club Championship --to date, one of the best performances by a Filipino in an international contest.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009, despite having a pro career hampered by numerous injuries.

Lim lost consciousness and collapsed during a legends game back in November 2014. Since then, he has been bedridden.
