MANILA—After losing to University of Santo Tomas (UST) in a do-or-die UAAP basketball game on Wednesday, star players of the University of the Philippines (UP) sent heartfelt messages of gratitude to their supporters.

Kobe Paras said he was grateful for all those who supported the Fighting Maroons.

"Every game felt like a home game. UP, thank you so much for welcoming me with open arms," he tweeted.

Ricci Rivero, who won a championship with UST head coach Aldin Ayon in 2016 when both were still with De La Salle University, also sent a "love letter" to UP supporters.

"Thank you all for the memories," he tweeted.

Juan Gomez de Liaño, the homegrown talent of UP, also said he will always cherish his years in his beloved alma mater.

UST beat UP 68-65 to move on to the finals.

The España-based Growling Tigers will take on Katipunan's unbeaten Ateneo de Manila University in a best-of-3 series, looking to deny the Blue Eagles a third straight crown.
