(UPDATED) NorthPort stayed in contention for a playoff berth after pulling off a come-from-behind 102-94 win against NLEX in the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup at Araneta Coliseum on Wednnesday.

The Batang Pier fought it out from 15 points down, holding the Road Warriors to 16 points in the fourth quarter to complete the turnaround.

Michael Qualls tallied 36 points and 11 rebounds aside from 5 assists for NorthPort, while Christian Standhardinger added 23 points and 19 rebounds.

With the win NorthPort snapped a 2-game slide while ending NLEX's 6-game winning streak.

The Batang Pier now sport a 4-7 card for joint seventh place with idle Columbian.

NorthPort can claim an outright slot in the quarterfinals if it beats Barangay Ginebra on Sunday.

Manny Harris led the way for NLEX with 34 points, but only Kiefer Ravena and JR Quiñahan provided adequate backup. Ravena scored 16 points, while Quiñahan tallied 10.

In the other game, Alaska came up with a 103-99 win over Phoenix Pulse, pumping life into its own flickering playoffs hopes.

Vic Manuel led the Aces' balanced attack with 20 points, while Jeron Teng and Frank House chipped in 17 and 15, respectively.

Matthew Wright had 25 points for the Fuel Masters, who also got 23 from Alonzo Gee.

The Aces improved to 4-6 and grabbed a share of sixth spot. They are now tied with Columbian Dyip and NorthPort and a full game behind fifth-running Magnolia.

This means Blackwater and Phoenix, which both occupy the bottom of the standings with 2-8 cards, are already out of the playoffs.
