MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine under-23 football team's campaign in the 26th Southeast Asian Games in Jakarta took another serious blow after they lost to Timor-Leste, 2-1.
Timor Leste took the lead in the 16th minute through a Murilo de Almeida goal.
De Almeida also scored his team's 2 goals in their 2-1 win over Brunei in their first match.
The Philippines drew level in the 36th minute when OJ Porteria found the back of the net after a series of passes between the Azkals players.
The Azkals' celebrations were short-lived, however, after their opponents took the lead again in the 53rd minute.
The Philippine XI, led by Carli De Murga, tried to recover but their attempts were foiled by the opposing goalkeeper.
The Philippines remains winless after 2 matches.
