MANILA, Philippines – Ateneo Blue Eagles center Chibueze Ikeh was arrested Wednesday evening after their win over University of the Philippines by Quezon City police.

Ikeh was charged with violating the Violence Against Women and Children Law and was served with a warrant of arrest by QC police officers at the Araneta Coliseum.

Ikeh, one of Ateneo's leading rebounders, was detained overnight at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the QCPD.

Police officers waited for at least two hours for Ikeh, who stayed behind at the Ateneo dugout after their game along with the coaching staff and officials of the university's Athletics Office.

Ateneo athletic director Em Fernandez described the situation as a "private matter" that had nothing to do with the Blue Eagles or the UAAP.

Last month, Ateneo forward John Apacible was suspended by the Blue Eagles following a drunk driving incident.

Ateneo has yet to release a statement regarding Ikeh's arrest. -- Reports from ANC, DZMM.
