Despite his team's recent struggles, National University head coach Jamike Jarin likes the Bulldogs' prospects.
NU has suffered a series of setbacks in UAAP men's basketball, the latest of which came against Ateneo.
But the Bulldogs' outings have also shown the steady rise of rookies Dave Ildefonso and John Lloyd Clemente.
“Right now, you have to stick with the positives. Even though we lost, we have to stick with the positives,” Jarin said in an article posted on ABS-CBN Sports.
“For now, Dave Ildefonso and John Lloyd Clemente, you can see the future not only for NU, but also for Philippine basketball. They’re rookies, but you can see the big upside with them.”
Straight out of high school Ildefonso is averaging 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. Clemente, on the other hand, is tallying 11.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per outing.
This showed that the tandem is a force reckon with in the coming years.
“After this, they still have four years to play together. That’s the scary part for the opponents in the UAAP,” said Jarin.
