MANILA, Philippines – The Petron Blaze Boosters, runners-up in the recently concluded PBA Governors Cup, have acquired point guard Chris Ross from the GlobalPort Batang Pier, it was announced Wednesday morning.
A report on the PBA website confirmed that Ross will go to the Blaze Boosters in exchange for veteran guard Denok Miranda.
Ross will leave GlobalPort without having played even a single minute for the franchise, having been acquired by the Batang Pier in a previous trade that sent Gary David to the Meralco Bolts.
According to a Spin.ph report, PBA Commissioner Chito Salud approved the deal in the sidelines of the league’s planning session in Sydney, Australia.
“It is balanced, so good luck to both Petron and GlobalPort,” said Salud.
On Twitter, Miranda tweeted “Confirmed” and then thanked his bosses at Petron for their help in his career.
“Thank you boss RSA (Ramon Ang) and boss Robert (Non). Laki ng naitulong niyo sa akin at sa family ko… Thank you sa mga coaches, teammates ko, staff at ball boys,” said Miranda. “Higit sa lahat thank you very much sa inyo, #Petroniverse.”
Ross, meanwhile, tweeted his gratitude for the Petron fans for their “warm welcome.”
“You guys are amazing,” he said.
