MANILA, Philippines -- Ateneo de Manila University forward Will Navarro played just over three minutes in their game against University of the East (UE) on Sunday, after absorbing a hit to the head.
The versatile player was accidentally elbowed in the first quarter and was subbed out after playing just three minutes and 38 seconds.
Ateneo did not miss a step without him, as the Blue Eagles overpowered the Red Warriors, 84-50, for their 12th win in a row.
"It's a possible concussion and so that's why we kept him out," said Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin of Navarro.
Navarro "took a good knock," said Baldwin, and was not clear about what happened.
"He was still a bit groggy at halftime. He wasn’t clear on everything. He didn’t remember what happened to him," the coach revealed. "So generally when you don’t remember what happens to you, it’s not a great sign."
Navarro was sent to a local hospital to be checked.
Navarro is averaging 7.55 points and 6.55 rebounds per game for the Blue Eagles.
