MANILA - Social media users were all excited about Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao's debut as the playing-coach of Kia Soernto in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) on Sunday at the Philippine Arena.

However, Pacquiao played a little under seven minutes in the first quarter, did not take a single shot, and finished with two turnovers and one foul in his very first PBA game.

With his short performance on the court, some Twitter users believe that Pacquiao should have just focused on boxing and his work at the Congress.

Meanwhile, some of his fans said we should cut Pacquiao some slack, adding that maybe he will improve as the PBA season progresses.

Pacquiao stayed at the bench most of the time as the team's head coach, a ''strategy'' netizens think was effective for Kia.

But kidding aside, some social media users think that Coach Pacquiao's system was really good, especially after the third-quarter outburst that was key to Kia's blowout win against Blackwater Elite.

The Pacquiao-coached team defeated Blackwater Elite, 80-66, in front of a 52,000-strong crowd, giving them a 1-0 record in the PBA Philippine Cup.
