Actor Gerald Anderson had a decent scoring night, although his efforts didn't translate into a win for Marikina in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup on Saturday.

Anderson and the Shoemasters lost 77-65 to San Juan Knights—Go for Gold in Marikina's home turf at Marist School Gymnasium.

Anderson, who played nearly 29 minutes as a starter, shot 3 of 10 from the field and missed all but 1 of his 7 attempts from behind the arc.

He also registered 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 4 fouls and zero turnovers.

Michael Ayon finished with 16 points, while ex-pros Mac Cardona, Larry Rodriguez and John Wilson scored 10 each for San Juan, which upped its record to 9-2.

Dexter Mescallando paced Marikina, which fell to 4-7, with 17 points.

In the first game, the Davao Occidental Tigers Cocolife defeated the Laguna Khra Heroes 72-66.

Davao Occidental raised its record to 7-3 while Laguna fell to 6-4.
