Jun Manzo led an unusual first five for the University of the Philippines, Saturday at MOA Arena, which started strong before the rest of the team pulled through and pushed off University of the East, 78-75, for a much-needed bounce back win in the UAAP 82 Men's Basketball Tournament.

Manzo was flanked by usual starters Bright Akhuetie and Kobe Paras, but was also joined by Jaybie Mantilla and Jaydee Tungcab in the lineup acting head coach Ricky Dandan chose to commence the contest with.

That first five worked wonders, though, and scored 11 unanswered points before seizing an 18-2 lead.

The Red Warriors regrouped, however, as Alex Diakhite and Rey Suerte actually shot them back into tying the tally at 41-all late in the second quarter.

It was at that point that State U responded with an 11-0 run to re-increase their advantage to 52-41 at the midway mark of the third period.
