PBA: SMB import tungkol sa pananakal kay Calvin Abueva — ‘I didn't choke him’

Itinanggi ni Kevin Murphy ng San Miguel Beer na sinadya niyang sakalin si Calvin Abueva ng Phoenix sa kanilang laro sa PBA Governors’ Cup sa Mall of Asia Arena nitong Biyernes.

“I mean, it was really just trying to hold him up. It just so happened that my arm was around his neck,” ani Murphy sa panayam sa kaniya ng media matapos talunin ng Beermen and Fuel Masters 117-100.

“But I didn’t choke him, I was just holding him. He just kept pushing me back. So, I mean, I’m not a dirty player, you know what I mean, so it is what it is.” 

Nagkagirian sina Murphy at Abueva may higit apat na minuto na lang ang nalalabi sa laro, bagay na humantong sa komprontasiyon sa pagitan ng mga player ng parehong koponan at maski mga coaching staff nila.

Tinawagan ng flagrant foul-1 si Murphy, habang wala namang ipinataw na parusa kay Abueva.

Ngunit umalma pa rin ang Phoenix enforcer dahil mas mabigat pa raw dapat sa flagrant foul-1 ang itinawag sa Amerikanong player.

“Try ko rin para malaman kung gaano ka-f2 o ka-f1 ’yun. ’Yun lang, OK na. Try ko,” ani Abueva, na may reputasiyon sa liga sa kaniyang pisikal na paglalaro.

Sa parte naman ni Murphy, wala naman daw siyang problema sa pisikal na laro. 

“I’m OK with playing physical, playing hard to compete but my thing is if you hit me with cheap shots the whole game and the ref just letting it go and stuff like that . . . I mean, I can play through that but it don't mean that I like it so that’s how it was,” ani Murphy.
