UAAP: NU downs UST to remain perfect in girls volleyball

MANILA, Philippines—National University Nazareth School sustained its perfect run in UAAP Season 82 girls volleyball after sweeping University of Santo Tomas, 25-21, 25-17, 25-15, at the Paco Arena on Wednesday.

Erin Pangilinan, Alyssa Solomon and Evangeline Alinsug all tallied 11 points while Mhicaela Belen added seven points, including two service aces as the Bullpups moved to 7-0.

"Sabi ko sa kanila noong second set, we just have to get back on track kasi minsan talaga nawawala yung players, hopefully hindi na ulit mangyari sa next games," first-year NU coach Regine Diego said.

Renee Lou Peñafiel had nine points for UST, which has lost twice to NU this season.

In the other matches, Far Eastern University Diliman trounced University of the Philippines Integrated School, 25-22, 25-13, 25-15, while Adamson University scored a 25-18, 25-9, 21-25, 20-25, 15-11 win over University of the East.

Alexis Miner topped FEU with 12 points on nine spikes, two blocks, and a service ace while Zey Pacia poured in 11 points.

Captain Maria Lalongisip led Adamson with 16 points off 12 attacks and four aces, to go with 14 digs.

Lovelee Hernandez had 19 points built on 16 spikes and three blocks to lead UE.

The Baby Lady Tamaraws and Baby Lady Falcons are tied for third place with 5-3 slates, just a game behind the Junior Tigresses, who sport a 6-2 record.

UPIS remained winless in eight outings.

Girls action resumes with three matches at the Blue Eagle Gym Sunday.
