PBA's Arana, Villanueva fined for pre-season brawl

MANILA -- Four players of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) were fined after they figured in fight that happened during an offseason scrimmage at Meralco Gym in Pasig last Friday, according to the PBA website.

After reviewing the incident, the Office of the Commissioner found out that it was Rain or Shine's Ryan Araña who instigated the fight by throwing the ball at Enrico Villanueva of the NLEX Road Warriors.

Araña was fined the amount of P40,000.

Villanueva, meanwhile, was also fined the same amount for throwing the first punch and engaging Araña in a fight.

Araña's teammates, Jervy Cruz and Jericho Cruz, were also fined for joining the fray. Jervy was fined P40,000 for kicking Villanueva, while Jericho was fined P20,000 for throwing the ball at the NLEX forward.
